Structure in SW corner - hearth
The remains of a built structure are visible in the SW corner. Mau reported a small lead container, identified as a hearth, at this location, below the small rounded window serving as a smoke outlet.

The structure now consists of rough stones with large quantities of earth mortar, but without plaster, and we can assume that these are the remains of the hearth. What is preserved today is a stone built narrow bench that could have functioned as support for the hearth.

The hearth was standing on the lavapesta floor and plaster is found on the wall behind the remains of the structure, thereby identifying the hearth as a late feature in room a. An edge in the wall plaster is visible at a height of 0.4m; it is presumably the plaster line of the original height of the hearth.

Measurements:

Height: 0.32m, plaster found at 0.40m height.

Width: 0.20m

Length: 0.98m
