West Wall

Description

Henrik Boman & Monika Nilsson

The west wall of room g is the best preserved structure of the room. It is a lava incertum wall on a plinth, also of lava stones. The upper part is a modern restoration.

Above the plinth is a band of large chunks of plaster still attached to the wall. Types C and D, probably contemporaneous and from the same construction phase, had been applied as the first layer. Red-painted type I was identified as a second layer.

It was restored in 2008.
