Room 11

Description

Thomas Staub

This room is situated between corridor 10 and the east boundary wall of the house. Some of the walls are covered with a rough final plaster, which could mean, that this room belonged to the service quarters of the house. This hypothesis is reinforced by the presence of many small holes in that plaster, probably after nails, to which different things could be attached. The presence of older decorations, which continues behind the north wall indicates, that this room originally reached further to the north and was diminished by the current north wall at a later stage in the history of the house. The other walls instead belongs to the original building phase of the house, which is shown by the building materials used and the interaction between the frame of the doorway between atrium4 and corridor 10 with the west wall of this room.

This part of the hopuse excavated between 1836-1838.
