Room c (corridor)

Description

Henrik Boman & Monika Nilsson

Room c is the corridor connecting the front room a with the rear suite of rooms (d-f). An oblong niche and the lararium are found in the S wall. A basin sunken into the floor, filled with earth and debris, was presumably closed in antiquity. The floor is preserved only along the N wall. The floor is slightly raised in the E area since the rear rooms are located at a higher level than rooms a and b.

As in room a, grey, rough wall plaster is found below floor level. The plaster is preserved below the door opening to room d.

The plaster below the door opening to room d, together with the finds in room a below the door to corridor c, show that the corridor is a later arrangement in the history of the house.
