Floor

Description

Thomas Staub

Even here, the floor from atrium4 continues into the room. Only some isolated tesserae of the geometrical pattern, which marked the border between the ala14 and atrium4, are preserved, so that its original lay out cannot be established. As in ala9, also here a rhomboid cut stone, in this room a white limestone, accentuated the centre of the room. This stone was in a later phase partly covered by the low wall, which sustained the cupboard placed in the western part of this room (see below, description features). In front of the opening towards cubiculum15, the floor is missing. The pavement abuts against the threshold of the closed off door towards room 18 and against the bipedales on the west and north walls.
