Threshold

Description

Thomas Staub

Threshold between room 17 and atrium 4
The threshold is made of one slab of travertine, 0.76 x 0.17 m large. The north door frame is cut off above the threshold, which is wider than the door opening (0.065 m). The doorstop is at the west side (side of room 17), the deepened part is 0.03 m wide, and the rim is 0.01 m high. Two rectangular indentations can be observed on the higher part of the threshold: 1: 0.03 m from the north edge, 0.01 from the rim, 0.05 x 0.03 x 0.015 m; 2: much damaged, 0.01 m from the rim, other measures unknown. A round imprint (diam. 0.05) can be seen 0.04 m from the east edge, 0.03 m from the south edge.
