East Wall

Description

Thomas Staub

E wall: width 2.05 m, max. preserved height 3.30 m (above 2.40 m height as modern reconstruction). Door towards corridor h1: width 1.25 m, height 2.50 m. Nearly the entire antique wall is covered by plaster (with no traces of colour). In the south-east corner, between 1.90 and 2.40 m height, part of the masonry is visible. Here it consists of a mixed opus incertum with lava, Sarno stone and cruma, fist large pieces in size, set into a yellowish mortar and partly covered by an older layer of plaster.
