West Wall

Description

Thomas Staub

Width: 2.8 m, max preserved height: 1.95 m. In the s-w corner a vertical stripe (approx. 0.15 m wide) follows the construction of the south wall in opus vittatum. The remaining wall is entirely made of a mixed opus incertum, containing mainly sarno stone, but also some lava, cruma and travertine. The mortar is not determinable, since it is covered by modern concrete. The lowermost 0.1 m are covered by a reddish plaster.
